About Don Callejon School

Vision Statement:

Don Callejon K-8 STEAM develops students on their journey towards the SCUSD Graduate Portrait. The STEAM approach fits our desire to ignite student interest with choice and real world connections, while also emphasizing rigor in the core subject areas. Students are creative problem solvers, future ready learners, and critical thinking scholars. Social emotional learning develops students with a resilient mind/healthy body, and that are inclusive empathizers.

Mission Statement:

Implementing a STEAM experience for experiential and real world learning in all content areas. Students at DCS do the work and thinking of scientists, engineers, mathematicians, readers and writers, and more. Don Callejon STEAM builds students with deep understanding, agency, and strong connections, on their journey and toward the graduate portrait:

  • Problem solvers who communicate effectively, and have a deep understanding of content.
  • Independent workers who have confidence in their ability to learn. Responsible thinkers who are able to persevere through challenges.
  • Respectful citizens with integrity, who are empathetic towards others.

Don Callejon STEAM is accomplished in Kindergarten through 8th grade with project based learning, rigorous workshop instruction, and a focus on the arts.
