Dear Santa Clara Unified Community:

As many of you have seen/read, there is a social media trend occurring across the United States showing clowns committing crimes, including making threats against schools. This has caused a lot of disruptive rumors and behavior in the community. While there are no credible threats against any of our schools, we want to reassure all families that we take all threats seriously and work with local law enforcement to investigate rumors and other information as they arise.

There are two things that you can do to help people feel safe:

  1. Do not wear clown costumes on or near campus. Additionally, it is our recommendation to not wear this type of costume at all, anywhere, until this trend fades as it could easily put you in physical and legal danger. Additionally, disruptive behavior by students can lead to disciplinary consequences.

  2. Do not spread rumors about this topic. If you have information, please share it with our office so it can be investigated. Rumors themselves can create danger and cause people to do unsafe things.

If you witness suspicious activity in or around a school, please call your school or the District Office at (408) 423-2000 or, for a more immediate threat, call 911 or your local police department non-emergency number:

  • Santa Clara Police Department at (408) 615-5580

  • Sunnyvale Police Department at (408) 730-7100

  • San Jose Police Department at (408) 277-8900

  • Cupertino Police Department at (408) 299-2311

Additionally, this trend is understandably causing some anxiety for children. Attached is a resource on how to help children cope with anxiety. We hope this is a helpful guide for you.

Thank you for your continued partnership to ensure the safety of our students and schools.

Events this Week

Where are all the student pictures?

We know many people would love to see pictures of Don Callejon students here.  Unfortunately, at this time, privacy restrictions prevent us from publishing photographs of students on the general school website.  Parents are encouraged to attend the many school family events in person to see the students' smiling faces.
